Richard Ojeda Before Politics–Military Service and Teaching Career

Richard Ojeda is a retired army major and at present, he is working as an American Politician. His full name is Richard Neece Ojeda II. He was born in the year 1970 on the 25th of September, in Rochester, Minnesota, United States. He is the son of Richard N. Ojeda and Florena (Pansera). Richard is a democrat as he was born in a Democratic family. He has also mentioned once that when he was in high school, being called a Republican was like a curse.

Richard’s Family Background

If we talk about Richard’s paternal grandfather, so he was from Jalisco, which is a Mexican State. To earn some money during the coal boom period, Richard’s paternal grandfather migrated from Mexican State to West Virginia. Later on, he got citizenship in West Virginia. Talking about Richard’s father, so he was born in the United States only. However, he moved to Mexico later on and lived there for a few years. It is also been said that one of Richard’s grandparents died during World War II in a mining accident. Richard’s father was a nurse anesthetist. Richard is married to Kelly Ojeda and has 2 children. His children’s names are Richard III and Kayla.

Richard’s Educational Background

Richard Ojeda was graduated in the year 1988, from Logan High School. He has completed a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia State University in General Education. He has completed his master’s degree from Webster University, Missouri, in Business and Organizational Security. It is a non-profit and private university in Missouri.

Richard’s Military Service

Richard once mentioned that the place where he comes from only leaves three career choices for one after completing the graduation. The three choices are, sell dope, dig coal, and join the Army. Leaving the other two choices, Richard chose to join the army and he did. The total time duration for which the Richard has served the United States Army is 25 years. He started his career in the United States Army in the year 1988 and served till the year 2013. Richard has retired as an Army Major but he has served other designations as well in the United States Army. He started his military career as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Later on, he went for an officer’s training as well. During his 25 years of military service, Richard has earned 2 Bronze stars also. When he was serving the U.S. Army, he has spent time in different countries like Jordan, South Korea, Haiti, Honduras, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He has also fought the war in Afghanistan and the Iraq War.

Richard’s Teaching Career

When Ojeda got retired from the military services, he started at Chapmanville Regional High School as a Junior ROTC Instructor. He worked there from the year 2013 to the year 2017. As he was also serving as State Senator, so he resigned from the position of ROTC Instructor, due to not being able to give proper time for the service.

In the West Virginia Senate, Richard also argued for the increase in the wages of teachers. He said that, if teachers will be paid low, there will be strikes and it will also lead to the teachers leaving the state. Other than these things, Richard also established the Logan Empowerment Action and Development which is a non-profit social service. They helped the needy people by providing them meals, by involving in the community clean up, raising money for kids for buying them shoes, and for Christmas toy drives.

Richard’s Political Career

From the past few years, Richard Ojeda has become quite famous due to his political career as well as due to his take on different issues. After listening to Sen only, Richard decided to enter into politics. It was in the year 2014 when Richard entered politics. He ran for Congress in the 3rd District of West Virginia. Richard challenged Nick Rahall, however, he lost to him as in the Democratic Primary, he got only 34 percent of the vote. Later on, Ojeda won both Democratic Primary for West Virginia Senate’s 7th District by defeating Art Kirkendoll. He has also defeated Republican Jordan Bridges in the General Election in the year 2016. In the year 2016 only, he supported Donal Trump and voted for him. However, later on, he showed his regret that he voted for Trump as he felt that Trump has not been able to do good. Richard also ran a campaign for the upcoming 2020 Presidential election. However, he was dropped out from the race on the 25th of January 2019. On 14th January 2019, he also resigned from the West Virginia Senate.

Richard has always been considered as a capitalist politician, who have focused on supporting teachers and giving them a democratic environment. Moreover, he was of the opinion to keep union leaders’ influence intact, such that things can remain under control and be shut down whenever is turning the other way round. Certain industries often oppose strong support of unions. Recently, tech industry companies such as Tinder, OkCupid, Fuckbook App, and others have used their influence to battle strengthening unions. The man’s political career got a boost because of the support from Democratic party leadership who was worried on the growth of opposition and their impact on society as a whole.

Needless to say, Richard Ojeda is a popular man who has managed to leave his footprints over different sections of the society be it teaching; politics or military.
